- Berths of the Cruise Liners
The piers for cruise ships are located close to the city and have a modern cruise terminal. At the Stazione Maritima Molo, the so-called Galleria del Mare offers a variety of shops selling fashion, souvenirs and local specialties.
- Taxi in Naples
A taxi ride in Naples can be interesting. So, it is quite normal that the current traffic light color is not paid much attention. If you are a
pedestrian, you should pay attention to the traffic. The official taxis can be recognized by the white paint and the painted number. Usually, the taximeter should be switched on
while driving. Often it is also possible to negotiate a fixed price. This should be agreed upon before the trip. The taximeter then remains switched off, of course. Some taxi drivers also offer
tours to tourist destinations. Usually, the drivers expect a tip after finishing their services. As the fares and fees are often adjusted, it is useful to inform yourself in advance. The prices
of private taxi companies differ from the official taxis.

- SNAV Ferries
Directly at the Cruise Terminal Stazione Marittima Molo is the station of the SNAV hydrofoils, which sail at regular intervals to Capri, Ischia, Procida and Sorrento. The Aliscafi do not operate in heavy seas. Alternatively, you can use the "normal" ferries Traghetti, but they take much longer for the crossing.
- Central Station
The Napoli Centrale railway station is located in Piazza Garibaldi (stop for the underground line 1) and is about 2.7 km from the cruise terminal. It takes about 40 minutes to get there on foot.
- Circumvesuviana
By train Circumvesuviana you can reach Herculaneum, Pompeii and Sorrento (terminal stop). The train takes 35 or 40 minutes to reach the famous excavation sites. The total travel time to the final stop is one hour. The train departs from Napoli Centrale station in Piazza Garibaldi from 06:00-22:00 and every half hour. One does not get the tickets in the train but only in tobacconists, kiosks and of course in the stations themselves. Before getting into the train, the tickets should be validated on the platforms.
- Napoli Metro
With the subway of Naples, the Metropolitana di Napoli, one gets quickly to the sightseeings of the city. By the way, the subway itself is worth a visit, specially the artistically arranged stations of the line 1, that is also called Metròdell'Arte. Thus, for example, at some subway stations, some archeological findings that were found during the construction are exhibited. Without doubt, one of the most beautiful subways in Europe. With the subway line 2, for example, one can reach the Phlegreean Fields. Lines 1 and 2 run from 06:00-23:00 and at rush hour every 7 minutes. The line 6 only runs from 07:30-14:30 o'clock.
- Phlegraean Fields
With the subway line 2 you can reach the many small volcanoes and thermal springs of the Phlegraean Fields. From the stop/station
Pozzuoli-Solfatara it is about 1000 meters to the entrance of the important Vulcano Solfatara. Open daily from 08:30-19:00. From November to March it is already closed at
16:30.
- Public Transportation Tickets
One gets tickets in tobacco shops (Tabaccio) and at the counters of the subway stations. No tickets are sold on the buses! The tickets must be validated before departure. In the busses, one uses the small validation boxes for this. At the subway and the Funicolare, the tickets are validated at the access barriers. The validity of the temporary tickets starts with validation. There is to consider that each transport company sells its own tickets and that they are only valid there. Exceptions are the Artecard and the TIC-tickets (Ticket Integrato Campania).
- Naples Artecard
With the Napoli Artecard you can use the public transport and you get free entrance to 3 of 40 sights. From the fourth, there is a 50% discount on the entrance fee. The Naples Artecard costs 12 Euros for young adults up to 25 years, 21 Euros for adults over 25 years and is valid for 3 days. It is available at the airport, railway stations and major hotels. An integrated chip saves queuing at the museum cash desks. A list of the included sights can be viewed on the website.
- Campania Artecard
The Campania Artecard can also be used outside Naples. It entitles you to use public transport and also offers discounts on admission fees to museums and places of interest, in Naples and the Campania region. The free entrance to 2 of 80 places of interest is included. There is also a 50% discount on the entrance fee from the third attraction. For example, Herculaneum and Pompeii are included. The complete list is also available on the website. The costs for the Campania Artecard for three days are 25 and 32 Euro respectively. The last price applies to adults aged 25 and over.
- 7-Days Campania Artecard
Those who get along without the public transport and/or are on the way with a rental car can also buy a 7-Day Campania Artecard. It costs 34 euros and with it, one can visit 5 of 80 sightseeings for free. From the sixth there is a 50% discount.
- TIC-Ticket
With the TIC Ticket you can also use public transport, independently of the operator, and also outside Naples. It costs 1,50 Euro and has a validity period of 90 minutes after validation. Alternatively, there is also a TIC day ticket for currently 4.50 euros.

- Public Transport ANM
The largest transport company in Naples is ANM. It operates the subway lines 1 and 6, the funicolare and the city bus lines. The tickets are
called Aziendale-Ticket, cost 1,00 Euro and entitle to one ride. An ANM-Day-Ticket can be purchased for 3,50 Euro. For the sake of completeness, the weekly ticket for 12,00 Euro
should be mentioned, even if it is rather uninteresting for crusaders. Tickets are not available on the bus.
- Funicular Railways
Naples' public transport system also includes the four Funicolare mountain railways, which connect the lower town with the upper town. The funiculars Centrale, Chiaia, Montesanto and Mergellina usually run daily from 07:00-22:00 and at the latest every 12 minutes. They are managed by the ANM. Seats are limited in the vehicles.
- Sightseeing Tours
The Red Sightseeing Buses have a stop near the port at Piazza Municipio, which is only 700 metres from the Cruise Terminal Naples. A ticket costs 22 euros for adults and 11 euros for children. It is valid for all three lines and a maximum of 24 hours. The travel time for a round trip is 61 minutes for line A, 72 minutes for line B and 90 minutes for line C.
- Castel Nuovo and Museo Civico
The Castel Nuovo is easily recognizable from afar and is located directly at the port, in Piazza Municipio. The "New Castle" is also called Maschio Angioino. Construction of the mighty castle complex with its five towers began in 1279 and a triumphal arch made of white marble stands at the western entrance. Open daily from 10:30-16:30. In the west wing of Castel Nuovo you can find the Museo Civico. The Museum of the History of Naples is open every day from 09:00-19:00, except Sundays.
- Centre and Shopping
The city centre of Naples is easily accessible on foot. To the west, just behind Castel Nuovo, there is the Galleria Umberto I, a shopping mall in the old town. At the west side, the long Via Toledo runs in north-south direction. In this pedestrian area, one finds a multitude of shops. From the landing stage, it takes approximately 1 km and/or 15 minutes to get there. Exclusive boutiques are mainly located in the Via Chiaia.
- Handicraft
An important street of Naples is Via San Gregorio Armeno. In the street there are many small shops selling Neapolitan handicrafts such as cribs (pastori) and, among other things, the so-called Corni , Curnicielli or horns. These are widespread among the Neapolitans and are supposed to ward off the Malocchio, the evil eye.
- Vomero Hill and National Museum
On the Vomero hill you can find the Castel Sant'Elmo and the Monastery/Museum of San Martino. From up there you have an excellent view of Naples, the harbour and the Vesuvius. The funicular Funicolare Centrale takes 5 minutes to the Vomero. The station Augusteo is located on the Via Toledo opposite the Galleria Umberto I. From the top station at the Piazza Fuga, it is another 800 metres to the monastery. Nearby, in Piazza Vanvitelli, there is also the Metròdell'Arte station of the same name (metro line 1). At the Piazza is the Via Alessandro Scarlatti (pedestrian zone) with its boutiques. The Convent of San Martino houses the National Museum with interesting exhibits on the history of Naples. Open every day, except Wednesdays, from 08:30-18:30.
- Castel dell'Ovo
The Castel dell'Ovo, situated on the southern shore, is the oldest fortification in the city and is about 2 km or 30 minutes' walk from the mooring. There are good restaurants in the adjacent marina.
- National Archaeological Museum
In the National Archaeological Museum, in Piazza Museo 19, there are finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum, mosaics and a collection of erotica. There is also an exhibition on Egypt in the basement. Open daily from 09:00-19:30. Closed on Tuesday. The Museo metro station on Line 1 is located in the immediate vicinity, and the distance between the port and the museum is 2.3 km.
- Mount Vesuvius
The impressive Vesuvius is always worth a trip. If the weather is fine, you get an impressive panoramic view over the Gulf of Naples. About 200
meters below the edge of the crater there is a parking lot with costs. The public bus from Herkulaneum also stops here. The distance in between can only be covered by foot. It goes up quite
steeply. One can plan half an hour for it. The entrance is only possible for a "fee" of 5 Euro. At the top the path leads half around the crater opening. At the end, there is a little house in
which souvenirs and snacks are offered. It is not allowed to descend into the crater itself. Vesuvius can be reached by rental car* (via the A3, exit Torre del Greco or Ercolano
possible, from there signposted) or by train. The regional train Circumvesuviana, in the direction of Sorrento, departs from the basement of Naples Central Station in Piazza Garibaldi, to
Herculaneum (Ercolano Scavi stop) in about 35 minutes. From there, take the public bus or taxi to the parking lot on Vesuvius. Alternatively, there is a daily bus service operated by the SAV from
Naples to Vesuvius. The Napoli-Vesuvio line starts at Piazza Piedigrotta at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. It goes directly to the parking lot at Vesuvius, takes about 90 minutes for
one direction and costs 15.00 Euro per person. Round trip included. The last return trip from Vesuvius to Naples is at 14:00 hrs. On weekends Vesuvius is particularly busy.
- Pompeii
Pompeii, which was buried in 79 AD by the eruption of Vesuvius, can also be reached by the regional train Circumvesuviana in the direction of Sorrento. It departs from the basement of Naples' main railway station in Piazza Garibaldi, and takes about 40 minutes for the one-way journey. Admission costs 13 euros, concessions 7.50 euros. From Piazza Anfiteatro, in Pompeii, you can take the bus of the Pompei-Vesuvio line (EAV) up to Vesuvius. It takes about 55 minutes for one direction. A return ticket costs 10 euros and is available at the station and in Piazza Anfiteatro.

- Herculaneum
Also Herculaneum (Ercolano) was buried with the ashes of Vesuvius in 79 AD. In contrast to Pompeii, Herculaneum is much better preserved, but the exposed area is much smaller. An excursion to this place can be combined with a visit to Vesuvius, because if you take the train, you can also use the Ercolano Scavi stop. From the station, it is only approximately 800 metres in southern direction up to the excavation site. The entrance fee is 11 euros, reduced 5,50 euros.

- Sorrento
With the regional train Circumvesuviana you can reach Sorrento in 60 minutes. It departs from the basement of Naples Central Station in Piazza Garibaldi. Limoncello, a liqueur made from giant lemons, is world famous and a popular holiday souvenir from this region. On the Sorrento coast, Meta di Sorrento is the largest sandy beach in the region. From Meta station to the beach is about 1400 meters or 20 minutes walk.
- Capri
To the romantic Island of Capri a hydrofoil (Aliscafo) takes about 45 minutes. The berths of these boats are located in the immediate vicinity of the cruise terminal. In the port of Capri (Marina Grande) small excursion boats start, which offer tours along the rocky coast. A detour to the blue grotto is usually included. The valley station of the cogwheel railway that goes up to Piazza Umberto I (Piazzetta) is also located here. Directly next to the marina there is a narrow public beach section. A sole under your feet is recommended here, as otherwise the many and sometimes quite large pebbles can lead to strange walking movements.

- Ischia
To the Island of Ischia a hydrofoil (Aliscafo) takes about 40 minutes. The moorings of these boats are located in the immediate vicinity of the cruise terminal. The public buses of the EAV operate on the island, with which you can also easily reach the great sandy beaches. Three-wheeled micro-taxis offer tours to explore the island.
